Over its
lifetime, a vinyl window or door requires little maintenance. Because the color of a
standard (non-foiled) vinyl frame is not just applied to the surface, but rather extruded
through it, it won't chip, flake, crack or peel like wood windows. You'll never have to
spend another weekend scraping, puttying or painting. |

| High-quality
vinyl windows and doors will not have tiny pits or flaws that can trap
dirt and mar their finish. And most are designed with sashes that can be
either tilted or removed for easy cleaning. Only soap and water are needed
to clean vinyl windows. |

Quality
Construction Frame-corner construction is one of the most important features affecting air and water resistance. Better-quality vinyl windows and doors have welded corners. Others may have corners that are screwed together—they're less likely to be airtight and watertight, and the corners may start to separate after being exposed to heat and cold. With regard to the sash
and frame material, vinyl offers one of the lowest levels of
conduction—the less conduction, the greater the ability to insulate
against heat and cold. Other frame materials, such as aluminum, have very
high conduction rates. |
